Who We Are
Sankofa Care Children Services has been committed to providing outstanding childcare for more than 13 years. We provide fostering families, adoption services, specialist residential care, and tailored education to vulnerable, disadvantaged, and traumatized young people under the care of local authorities. We embrace differences, provide safety and stability, and give guidance and support through our quality-of-care provision and therapeutic residential environments.
It is our firm belief that all children and young people, regardless of their background, past or current situation, deserve the best chance to shine. The ‘Tree of Life’ approach focuses on identifying the different aspects of children and young people‘s identity, including their past, future goals, strengths and support system as building blocks for their Futures.
With our ‘Tree of Life’ therapeutic approach we support young people with a complex range of behaviours and challenges because our Staff and Carers have excellent understanding of their vulnerabilities and abilities, each child’s individuality is embraced and enjoyed. Across the Wrap around Services, the whole team around the child are really invested in the children and young people and this is shown in the strength of relationships which means they receive high quality bespoke care.
From an initial assessment completed in consultation with our Clinical Psychologist/Therapists and Gang Specialist, Sankofa Care provides individually tailored interventions that achieve outstanding long-term outcomes.
Our services are flexible and include:
- Fostering placement through Sankofa Care Fostering and Permanency Team
- Emergency and planned residential placements. Education at our Onsite
- Independent School and access to vocational training courses
- Ongoing support into independence after leaving care.
- Assessment of Needs completed in consultation with our Clinical Psychologist/Therapist
- Individual therapy sessions with our Consultant Therapeutic Team
