The choice to swift agencies is an important one; but you have our commitment that we will support to ensure that the process is straightforward and hassle free. You have the right as a foster carer to to transfer to another agency even if you are currently fostering a child. You play an important role in building promising futures for our vulnerable children and young people, as a result we aim to make this journey as rewarding as possible for you.
You would love to hear from you. Our qualified Social Worker will ne on hand to discuss the steps below and support you through the entire process
- Talk this over with one of our Qualified Social Workers. Our support starts right now
- After you have decided to transfer to us, you will notify your current agency or local authority that you intend to transfer to Sankofa Care.
- Our assessing social worker will arrange a meeting with you to go over the details. He/she will be with you throughout your assessment process including background checks, references and a medical.
- We will capture all your existing fostering knowledge and experiences to help us support and develop you further.
- We will invite you to some of our Skills To Foster training sessions to get to know your agency colleagues and meet some of our current foster carers.
- Your application will be reviewed at our Fostering Panel who will make a recommendation prior to our Agency Decision Maker confirming your approval with us.
